The 6-Pin J1708 female connector is with a locking ring. Rotating the locking ring to the right place after plugging to a 6-Pin J1708 male receptacle assures that the connector won’t come unplugged accidentally.

Application
This adapter will allow OBD2 diagnostic devices or scanners or fault code readers (with the appropriate software) to connect to commercial vehicles with the 6-Pin J1708 diagnostic ports in medium and heavy duty vehicles model years from the early-to-mid-2000s.
It can also be used to connect telematics or fleet management devices such as GPS Trackers to J1708 6-pin round diagnostic ports.
